Bowie

Adopt MeGift Me a Bucket of Fish!

Figure out how all the other dolphins beach themselves so well.

Aleta has been enjoying having all the other moms in the lagoon, so she can catch a break every now and then while other moms swim around with and keep an eye on Bowie.

Bowie and Morada are getting the idea of dorsal pulls! Morada can’t wait to do them and is usually rushing to beat any other dolphin to a hand first, and Bowie has learned that swimming next to the person holding her helps a lot vs. just coasting by them.

Bowie and Morada are becoming more comfortable with meeting guests as they both have been participating in encounter programs and learning lots of new things - the hardest being able to wait their turns now!

Bowie and Morada are both learning voluntary medical behaviors. Bowie is learning how to receive water, and Morada is learning how to work with her trainers for layout practices.

Bowie and Ranger were excited to play with a filefish in their lagoons, when Cacica noticed she gently took it from them and brought it to her trainer almost as if to say “please don’t let the littles play with this right now, we’re having a session”.

Bowie’s 2025 Resolution: To share with my BFF, Morada.

Bowie has always enjoyed exploring her surroundings. Recently, she loved playing and watching bubbles float through the air.

During a heavy downpour, Bowie was observed swimming at the water’s surface, catching raindrops in her mouth. Have you ever seen a dolphin play in the rain?

Bowie enjoys learning and continues to excel in her training. Recently, she is becoming more comfortable with her water behavior. Coming over and sitting calmly while she is voluntarily tubing is a big step for her!

While Bowie and Louie do not live together, there is no denying that they are related as they share similar traits and mannerisms. Louie has been known to catch baby nurse sharks and either bring them to his trainers or throw them over the fence. Bowie was also seen being interested in a nurse shark as she carried it around gently by its tail.

Ranger was recently introduced to the two littlest Bowie and Morada, and they have become an adorable little trio. Ranger is assuming the role of “big brother,” always watching to see if he can interact and play with them. He was also seen encouraging them to participate in dockside enrichment with trainers and a guest.

Bowie and Morada continue to grow and thrive. They recently had a big adventure when they moved into our front lagoon with their moms and aunties. Bowie leads the way in helping Morada become comfortable as they see more of their home.
