Calusa, Cayo and the DolphinLab students had so much fun feeding and eating fish upside down, turning their upper rostrum into a slide.

Calusa and Cayo have been busy refining their voluntary medical behaviors for their yearly physicals, such as letting trainers take a gastric sample.

Calusa, Merina, and Santini loved welcoming everyone who visited us for the spring break season!

Calusa and Jax have been great ambassadors for conservation! They have assisted trainers in cleaning up their lagoons, bringing plastic water bottles and other items to their trainers. Trainers do their best to keep the lagoons clean and free of debris that flows in from the gulf, but the dolphins also know that it does not belong in their home!

Calusa’s 2025 Resolution: To share a piece of my hula hoop with all the girls

Calusa and Pandora have been having a fun time learning their “zoom” behavior. They will take off in different directions doing a side speed run, do a wide arc and then return to the dock tummy to tummy. Sometimes it will look like they are drawing a big heart, but they still need to practice a few more times.

Calusa, Gypsi, and Pandora are a strong alliance, as they are strong ladies. They enjoy having their own lagoon and shifting between who is in charge each day and who gets to wear their prized hula hoop.

Atocha, Calusa, and Luna had the best time playing with a family during a splash. They picked a favorite person to be in front of and made sure to go back to them each time they were asked to do anything.

Calusa is a very loving dolphin. She loves to get all of the rubs and cuddles from her trainers. If a trainer is in the water with her, everyone else will have to wait their turn until Calusa thinks she has had enough love and attention.

The perfect examples of “strong, independent” females. Calusa and Merina both keep the status quo in a lagoon, and all of the other dolphins will follow their lead. They can be seen correcting the younger dolphins but also being examples for them to follow.

Santini, Calusa and Pandora all help the young dolphins learn, but they also help teach new trainers. They helped with the Dolphin Academy program as the students learned how to interact from in the water. The girls loved it!
