Talon and Pax enjoyed meeting some friends from Europe who had seen them 15 years ago! They also had the pleasure of introducing them to their younger bother, Gambit.
Pax and Talon have been having an enriching time practicing their gating! The boys have been moving in a circle through the lagoons on the right side of the causeway for different projects and will then go back the other way, keeping their days interesting and unusual.
Since living in the same lagoon together, Gambit, Pax, and Talon have shown staff how similar they are as brothers (especially in the group of six boys).
Pax, Talon, and Tursi can be quite vocal and often surprise guests with how loud their sounds can be. When anyone in this family gets excited or would like some extra attention, they make sure to let us hear about it!
Continuing to show they are our proud alpha males, Talon and Pax reminded everyone just how big they are when Talon weighed in at almost 610 pounds and Pax at over 620 pounds!
Talon’s 2025 Resolution: To wave goodnight to the trainers every single evening.
Pax and Talon are having fun with new training that will be beneficial for their physical fitness. Pax is starting off with a brand new behavior for him, his own belly flop! Talon is revisiting a behavior known as his banana jump!
Talon copied a little girl doing a cannonball into the underwater tray. She did it multiple times and Talon decided to show off his imitation skills and do a breach right in front of everyone.
Merina and Talon have particularly had fun playing with the DESY (Dolphin Enrichment System), an enrichment device that they can play with without trainers to make it release jello, ice, etc. Talon was recently so excited when he got it to do something that he spun in really fast circles. Merina was proud of herself for figuring it out, she ate all the jello before any of the other dolphins noticed.
Most of the dolphins know a behavior called their scuba diver impression, where they will sink down and blow bubbles. Talon adds extra creativity and creates perfect bubble rings.
Talon and Tanner had the best time with some of our Dolphin Lab students. They had the chance to do a signal session with them, and since these students had been here for a full week, it surprised both of the boys when they realized how creative and different the students could be with the signals.
